Judicial Integrity


This book presents work on the transformation of the judiciary in post-communist states and other countries in transition, examining the theoretical context of institutional independence, the relationship of neutralized institutions to branches of government, and comparative experiences of judicial independence. Integrity and neutrality of legal institutions and political independence of the judiciary are discussed, and impartiality is examined from a philosophical perspective. Experiences in Central and Eastern Europe, Italy, Russia, and the Baltics are detailed.
